GRIEF AND LOSS

 

If you are old enough to read this, chances are you have experienced a significant loss. If you are lucky enough to be living a robust life full of valuable relationships and other goodies, you will experience grief - the natural and expected range of human emotions related to loss. If it effects so many of us, though, why can it be such an isolating process? At times it seems like nobody gets it, life has halted, and you are carrying way more than you can bear. You don't have to go through it alone, and beating up your relatives until they "get it" won't work either. Remember, death of a loved one isn't the only form of loss we experience. Loss of a pet, a job, a marriage, a pregnancy, a dream...its all significant.
